Circuit Days Track Day, Silverstone International (9th April 2021)
So before I went to the circuit I used this video on YouTube to get familiar with the track.
With me on the day was a friend and fellow racer, Mike Jacobs from AE Racing Ltd. He took the car out first and discovered some lift off oversteer on turn in. His suggestion was to stiffen the rear dampers just a couple of clicks and see how it drove.
Here’s how it went after the changes:
I then took the wheel to get to know the circuit, and it felt great. A further change he suggested was to stiffen the front anti roll bar to take out a little more roll on entry. A 1.29 in the damp is still about 10s off the outright Class C record there but I’m still happy with my performance as this is only my second outing in the car. I couldn’t quite catch the slide at Vale for my first spin in the car but you don’t find the limit until you reach it. Here’s some further footage on the day:
